Engineering Interdisciplinary Programmes was formed in 2010. It is an academic teaching unit established to support students and staff involved in delivering a range of modules provided by the academic departments in the Faculty of Engineering (and in some cases by the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health and the Faculty of Science). The role of the Engineering Interdisciplinary Programmes Office (IPE) is to manage all aspects of the administration of interdisciplinary undergraduate programmes in Aerospace Engineering, Bioengineering and MEng Engineering, along with the Faculty’s Foundation Year programmes and the Post Graduate taught programme Computational Medicine. The IPO also provides a base and comprehensive support for approximately 1000 undergraduate students.

The Course Support Officer, reporting to the department’s Learning and Teaching Manager, will work closely with key academic staff, to provide a professional quality administrative support service for undergraduate and postgraduate students. The post-holder will manage activities to support a range of aspects of the IPE student experience, from admissions through to open days, examination boards and graduation events, covering the whole undergraduate and postgraduate student journey.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage and undertake all administrative activities associated with the assessment process for PGT students including managing the processing of PGT student extenuating circumstances, organisation of and attendance at Examinations Board meetings, taking minutes and ensuring that any actions are carried out.
• Act as the principal administrative liaison with the External Examiners for PGT programmes ensuring they are kept fully informed of programme developments and organising all aspects of the arrangements for their visits to the department.
• Plan and undertake activities for PGT and or UG students including registration Intro Week activities, welcome events, a two-week induction programme, the provision of information for new students and graduation and prize giving events.
• Monitor PGT student attendance/engagement checkpoints to ensure compliance with UKBA requirements.
• Approve add/drop forms and process change of status forms for PGT students ensuring students’ registration is in line with University Programme Regulations.
• Update and maintain PGT student records and course information to a very high standard, ensuring compliance with University and Department policies. Manage the distribution of course information and timetables to students.
• Provide administrative support to the PGT Project Tutor. Manage the arrangements for PGT poster presentation days, including detailed scheduling, printing and displaying of posters, group photographs and catering, and for the binding of theses and distribution to supervisors and second markers.
• Respond to all student/course queries made by telephone, email or in person.
