The Global Mobility function has a critical part to play in full support of the Diageo Performance Ambition: ensuring that technically complex services are delivered as smoothly as possible and that an excellent service is provided to stakeholders globally. This is the foundation of the Global Mobility Function.

The Global Mobility (GM) team manages and facilitates the cross-border mobility of talent within Diageo. GM has direct operational responsibility for ensuring the successful relocation and ongoing HR management of international assignees (IA’s) within Diageo globally. The team consists of 13 GM professionals responsible for the end to end IA process, providing advice to the business around global mobility issues, payroll instructions globally and policy development and maintenance.

The GM Advisory team has the primary responsibility for partnering with Diageo business stakeholders on all Global Mobility related matters. The business partnering aspect of the role includes business consultation, support with International Assignment / GM package design and overall GM advice and guidance to the business.

Top 3-5 accountabilities

To build trusted relationships with HR Business Partners to fully understand Diageo’s talent requirements globally, and ensure the delivery of a quality service to customers
Work with the business to resolve the most challenging technical and/or management issues related to the GM program (international tax, legal & contract matters, repatriations etc)
Exercise judgement and technical expertise in handling policy exception requests from the business and/or employees
Market Complexity
This role deals specifically with Emerging Markets and new territories, which have the highest number of expatriates based in hardship locations. However, there is a requirement to understand all locations where Diageo has operations. The role involves multiple stakeholders including HRBP’s, HRD’s, FD’s, Line Managers, external vendors (immigration, tax, relocation, healthcare & security) and international assignees/transfers.

Leadership Responsibilities
Whilst the role does not have direct reports, the Advisory team in London works very closely with the GM Operations coordinators based in Budapest. The Advisor is responsible supporting and coaching the team on a daily basis providing support, guidance and intervention where necessary, and to continually develop a strong team of technical specialists.

Global Mobility Advisor Objectives:

1. Providing pro-active advice to stakeholders across the business on all aspects of Global Mobility
2. Ensuring that GM policies and processes are followed in a consistent and compliant manner for the region(s) concerned
3. Supporting the GM Operations team meet their objectives and goals through support, mentoring and development
4. Involvement in ad-hoc strategic projects such as technology implementations and developments, policy reviews, FX reviews etc
5. Managing costs through exception management and policy advice exercising judgement and technical expertise in handling policy exception requests from the business and/or employees
6. The role holder will need to track and measure KPI’s, perform root cause analysis, and personally take accountability for case resolution.

Competencies and experience required:

Graduate calibre/proven intellectual capability with supporting qualification
Relevant experience of Global Mobility processes and policies in a commercial environment developed across multiple markets
Good knowledge of expatriate tax & immigration laws
Strong numerical and analytical skills
Demonstrable skills in building relationships and managing multiple stakeholders
Evidence of reacting with pace to GM issues and challenges, and evidence of responsiveness and the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
