The Role
As a Beer Packaging Engineer, you will be part of a small team of shift engineers covering the packing production operation from beer intake to finished goods loading. Runcorn Packaging is one of G&E RTD Supply’s eight sites, employing 2,000 people in UK, Ireland and Italy.
For this role to work effectively, it is important that key relationships are built with Line Leads, Area Managers, shift operators, quality technicians, engineering peers and the engineering support team.
Your role will require you to provide reactive and pro-active engineering support to the sites line operator teams during your 12hr shift pattern, covering the maintenance, problem solving and improvement activities.

The Person
We are looking for someone who is proactive and well-structured in their working style, with logical problem solving and evaluation skills. They need to be self motivated, with experience of high pressure situations where decision making may be required with little supervision. This person should be happy looking out for better, safer and more efficient ways of doing things through Continuous Improvement.
A high level of communication abilities is required to be successful, with the ability to develop and sustain robust relationships.
Finally we are ideally looking for someone who has had experience working within a challenging quality & customer focused environment.

Key Responsibilities include;

Achieving shift production targets.
Planning maintenance schedules for designated areas.
Proactively finding activities and delivering performance improvements.
Maintaining data systems such as SAP/log books, change control.
Proactively investigating downtime issues through identifying issues and resolving – reaching out for support if required
Ensuring both machine and line reliabilities are maximised.
Fault finding complex issues using recognised Manufacturing Excellence methodologies and techniques.

Qualifications and Experience Required
First and foremost, we are looking for somebody who is truly passionate about what they do and the drinks industry, but to be successful in this role, you will also need the following experiences:

An Indentured or NVQ 3 craftsman with relevant mechanical and electrical skills.
Extensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical and PLC software management.
Ideally you should have an understanding of Health, safety and environmental legislation and standards.
A good knowledge of packaging, process control, engineering or Engineering Excellence techniques would be preferred.
Preferably you will have an understanding of Manufacturing Excellence methodologies and techniques, have used SAP (or MRP systems) and Planned Maintenance.
