Vodafone scoops prestigious Gold Employer Recognition Award

Vodafone is recognised for its commitment to supporting the armed forces community, having received a Gold Employer Recognition Award through the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.

Vodafone took to Facebook to celebrate the news, posting: "We’re proud to have been awarded a Gold Employer Recognition Award for our long term commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant, supporting those who serve, veterans and their families. #GoldERS2019."

Demonstrating support to armed forces community

The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) encourages employers to support defence and inspire others to do the same. The scheme encompasses bronze, silver and gold awards for employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the armed forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.

The ERS is designed primarily to recognise private sector support although public sector organisations such as the emergency services, local authorities, NHS trusts and executive agencies are also eligible to be recognised.

Proud to employ veterans and people with military backgrounds

As a Gold award holder, Vodafone has - among many other requirements - signed the Armed Forces Covenant, has an existing relationship with a defence representative, proactively demonstrates their forces-friendly credentials as part of their recruiting and selection processes, employs individuals from the armed forces community, and actively ensures that their workforce is aware of their positive policies towards defence people issues.
