Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is announced as University of the Year has has also received further award recognition at the Whatuni Student Choice Awards (WUSCAs) of the Postgraduate Award

The coveted University of the Year award celebrates exceptional student experience, community spirit, and profound institutional pride among students.

"We're thrilled to announce that we've been named University of the Year at the Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2023! Thank you to our students for sharing their experiences. Another example of our commitment to offering a student experience like no other," commented NTU.

Celebrated for exceptional student experience

The WUSCAs celebrate es university efforts to meet and exceed student experience and are the largest annual awards in the UK voted for exclusively by students.

The University of the Year award is a reflection of how students perceive their whole university experience. Students are asked to take into account everything that has shaped their time at an institution, both on a personal and academic level.

NTU narrowly missed out in the Student Life and International categories, further confirmation of the support and welcome all students receive. Overall, NTU was shortlisted in six categories for the Awards.

"The Whatuni awards celebrate creativity, resilience and innovation within higher education. Nottingham Trent University has shown this in leaps and bounds, securing the esteemed University of the Year award,” said Simon Emmett, Chief Executive Officer of IDP Connect who host the awards. “This year's scores are significantly higher than previous years, highlighting the excellent work done across the sector.” 

Providing a student experience like no other

NTU Whatuni Student Choice Awards

With over 40,000 students and staff spanning five university sites, NTU is one of the largest and most influential higher education institutions in the UK. It is a university that is committed to driving forward meaningful change, and NTU's research, dynamism and innovation is consistently rewarded.

“These awards are particularly special to us because they are voted for by our students, and I am proud to be able to call NTU the University of the Year. We are committed to giving our community a student experience like no other, and this accolade is testament to this hard work," explained NTU Vice-Chancellor & President, Professor Edward Peck“Thank you to all our students for their support and for sharing their views, we are delighted that all our hard work is creating such a brilliant experience for you."

Nottingham Trent University has been fantastic. My course being Graphic Design surprised me. The facilities the course offers are great. As well as the teaching staff that are extremely talented and know which direction to guide you in. The best aspect of NTU for me is the fact I can do a degree I love and also play a sport I love, such as netball. Not many creative universities offer this experience. So it’s the best of both worlds,” commented one NTU student, leaving a review on the Whatuni website.

Supporting and welcoming postgraduate students

NTU also took the top spot in the Postgraduate category, improving its runner-up position from the previous year. Students vote for the facilities available for postgraduate students as well as how they welcome and support them through their studies.

"We’re also excited to have won the Postgraduate award! At NTU, we're committed to providing outstanding support and resources for our postgraduate students. Thank you to all our students for your feedback and support. You made this possible!," commented NTU.

The tutors are supportive and full of incredible knowledge and ideas which they are very happy to share and discuss with you. Trent allows and encourages you to develop your identity, thoughts and dreams to be the best version of yourself," added another NTU student via a review for Whatuni.
