Engineering careers can see you travel the world. Engineering is a global industry and the wide range of roles available to women engineers is truly outstanding and exciting. Engineering is a well-remunerated profession. The work is new and challenging with tangible results, and it provides a great balance for both creative and technical passions.

Women engineers are a valuable asset for many organizations, yet are still hugely under-represented. For example in the UK, 2021 figures indicate that only 16.5 per cent of engineers are women.

Where Women Work is an Official Partner of International Women in Engineering Day (INWED), created by Women’s Engineering Society (WES), that provides an important opportunity to elevate the profile of women engineers around the world and call for more women and girls to become engineers.

Make sure you learn more about the fabulous free webinar run by the Women's Engineering Society (WES) that celebrates the work of women in engineering, and also announces the TOP 50 Women in Engineering list.

Engineering is in everything

INWED 2023

INWED celebrates its 10th year in 2023, and once again promotes the amazing work that women engineers are doing across the globe, with the 2023 theme being #MakeSafetySeen. INWED also plays a vital role in encouraging more young women and girls to take up engineering and STEM careers.

In addition to spotlighting women engineers - electrical, mechanical and civil - INWED highlights the work of engineers across a much wider range of areas including cybersecurity, medical technology & devices, pharma, transport, civil engineering, and human factors.
