Schneider Electric is named on Fortune's Change the World list

Progressive employer Schneider Electric is included within Fortune's Change the World list which celebrates companies with daring ideas which are driven from the desire to make the world better.

Chairman & CEO of Schneider Electric, Jean-Pascal Tricoire, is delighted by the news and took to Twitter to say: "Proud to see @SchneiderElec has been named to @FortuneMagazine's 2019 #ChangeTheWorld list! We know firsthand the positive social impact companies can make by integrating #sustainability into their core business strategy. #LifeIsOn."

As an energy management company, Schneider Electric's mission is to bring energy and efficiency to enable life, progress and sustainability for all. The business pioneers digitization and transformation of energy and processes and turns the bold ideas of its customers into reality.

A list recognizing where business creates virtuous circles

Fortune explains that companies included in the Change The World list generally have most of the following principles in common:

  • Serving Multiple Stakeholders: World-changing companies recognize that a narrow focus on shareholder value can hurt a business in the long run. They strengthen their businesses by investing in their employees and bolstering the communities where they operate.
  • Pleasing shareholders: On average, the global, publicly traded companies on each of Fortune's previous Change the World lists have outperformed the MSCI World Index since those lists were published. Eight of the companies on the inaugural list have delivered total returns of 100 per cent or more since then.
  • Listening to employees: Many companies listed elicit transformative ideas from their rank and file.
  • Changing the conversation: Acting as pioneers in discussing environmental and social issues in public filings.

Fortune states: "More companies than ever are using the creative tools of business to help the planet and tackle society’s unmet needs."
