Service NSW: Government agency is a Great Place to Work

Service NSW, part of the New South Wales Customer Service Government cluster, is the first public agency in Australia to be honoured with a Great Place to Work Award.

Service NSW scooped the award for its dedication to the community. Great Place to Work surveyed 85,471 Australian employees from 163 companies and Service NSW is number eight in the category list for companies with more than 1,000 employees.

Cutting edge solutions and a customer-centric culture

Service NSW opened its doors in 2013. Since then, the agency has “successfully transformed and streamlined NSW Government service delivery with cutting edge digital solutions and a customer-centric culture,” Great Place to Work says. “Inspiration and workplace meaning come from continuous feedback from customers, communities and the difference that employees make in people’s lives.”

Passion for supporting each other and making positive difference

“It’s wonderful to see Service NSW receive independent public recognition for a focus on employees and customer service. It’s that same ethos which is at the heart of the newly formed Department of Customer Service,” says Service NSW CEO Damon Rees.

“Having just opened our 104th Service NSW Centre, our team has grown to almost 3,000 employees with more than 40 per cent of our people working in regional NSW. We have a diverse workforce which reflects the community we serve, with 70 per cent of our employees being women and almost 20 per cent of our workforce speaking English as a second language.”

Executive Director of Cultural Transformation at the Department of Customer Service Anne Cosgrove agrees “Service NSW lives and breathes our DNA, and shares a common passion when it comes to supporting each other and making a genuinely positive difference at work. This is the same energy customers can expect across more and more Government services."
