"At AECOM, I’m...honored to work alongside many female engineers every day. If you look across our organization, we have several women leaders in executive positions, including Lara Poloni as our firm’s global president, and this number only continues to grow," says Nandita Kaundinya in an interview for The Dallas Morning News.

Nandita is state business development lead for the North Texas market of AECOM’s West Region Transportation Business Line. She builds a strategy to support a larger transportation footprint in Texas across the company's various market sectors, collaborating with project management teams.

AECOM's growth helps the company better solve complex issues in the robust Texas infrastructure market.

“We are stepping into a new decade driven by digital platforms, automated vehicles, hyperloops and high-speed rail. What a thrilling time to be in the field," she says.

Nandita describes engineers as "designers" who solve technical problems when "lifer throws us our biggest challenges". She also associates the industry with "creativity, innovation, continuous learning, the ability to shape infrastructure solutions and to build better communities." For Nandita, it's this direct community impact that makes diversity within the industry so important.

"An engineering workforce that resembles the gender balance of our communities only helps us better understand and solve issues within these localities," she explains.
