WSP women leaders are using their impressive public profiles to drive sustainable impact in infrastructure, with Dr Katherine Ibbotson drawing on her expertise to deliver a keynote speech at WSP's post-COP26 event in Glasgow.

Mirroring the impressive achievements of colleage and thought leader WSP Executive Director Rachel Skinner, who used her term as President of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) to focus on net-zero commitments, Katherine discussed how to create infrastructure resilience for communities and was joined on a panel by the University of Glasgow, Edinburgh Napier University & WSP's David Leversha and Hamish Hall.

Focusing on net zero approaches

Dr Katherine Ibbotson is WSP's Director of Strategic Advisory, appointed to strengthen the Planning & Advisory business. In 2020, she was named in the prestigious Top 50 Influential Women in Engineering list for 2020.

With a background in engineering and construction, Katherine focuses on making net zero approaches usual activity at WSP, measuring and benchmarking the carbon impact of projects and providing strategic counsel on implementing low carbon solutions within infrastructure.

“There is no greater challenge to our society than climate change and consultancies such as WSP have an important role to play in advising clients on decarbonising their projects and strategies," she explains.
