Capgemini is sponsoring the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, an event that embodies its core values of boldness, freedom, and team spirit, and sees two women taking on the challenge of rowing 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean.

"Our partners share many of our core values, and our choice of partnerships underlines our belief in diversity and the power of bringing skilled individuals and teams to work together towards a common goal," cites the Capgemini website.

Smashing stereotypes while crossing the Atlantic

Victoria Carroll and Saf Greenwood are competing in the premier ocean rowing event in support of two charities - London Youth Rowing and The Fawcett Society, who campaign for gender equality and women’s rights at work, home and in public life.

In their vessel the Tideway Odyssey, Victoria and Saf are joining crews from all over the world to row from San Sebastian in La Gomera to Nelson's Dockyard in Antigua & Barbuda.

During this endurance race, the women will be tackling 20ft waves, sleep deprivation and physical extremes, all while smashing stereotypes in their ambition to break the world record for the fastest female pair.

Bringing rowing and military expertise to the crew

Victoria is an experienced rower, having been involved in the sport since she was 10. She has competed at National Championships, major Head races and qualifed for Henley Women's regatta several times as part of Vesta Rowing Club. Victoria is passionate about the power of sport for young minds and wants to show that no sport or activity is limited to any one gender, race or ability.

Saf, meanwhile, learned to row in 2007 but her rowing aspirations were put on hold when she enrolled at Sandhurst, followed by a tour in Afghanistan. Saf returned to rowing in 2018 when she joined Vesta, coached by Victoria.

Her 12 years serving in the British Army brings a wealth of organizational and leadership skills to the crew.
