Siemens Healthineers sees diversity as the inclusion and collaboration of different thinking, backgrounds, experiences, expertise, and individual qualities across all organizational levels.

Siemens Healthineers employees are free to join any of its nine Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), including its Pride ERG. This is a community of employees working together to advance Siemens Healthineers values of equality and inclusion by creating an environment of awareness and acceptance for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) employees and their allies.

To mark International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT), Siemens Healthineers posed frequently-asked questions about LGBTQIA+ topics to their colleagues, who were happy to respond with their views.

What does LGBTQIA+ stand for?

"It stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning/Queer, Intersex, Asexual and other genders, sexualities and allies," explains Lindsay Krakauer.

Why is it important to use gender-neutral language?

"I think it's important to include everyone, regardless of their gender identity. The easiest way to do so is through gender-neutral language," says Reiner Hoessel.

What's the difference between sexual orientation and gender identity?

"Sexual orientation is what I feel attracted to. Gender identity is how I identify myself. As a female (like myself), as non-binary, or as male," explains Micha Wischlitzki.

Why is it important for you to be out at work?

"If I hide my true self at work, other people will realize that. This would impact my day-to-day interactions," says Martin Korinth.
