Oracle press for progress on Women’s Day and beyond

International Women's Day, March 8, is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. This year, the theme is ‘Press for Progress’: a movement to forge positive visibility of women and drive progress in gender parity.

Like on previous International Women’s Days, this year Oracle will:

  • Celebrate and honour the many achievements of women near and far, past and present.
  • Recognize and thank advocates and activists, men and women, who work relentlessly to claim women’s rights.
  • Take the time, individually and in unity, to reflect, advocate and pledge to empower women across the globe to realize their full potential.

Oracle has a program that unites employees for women’s empowerment and development, not just for one day of the year, but for all 365 days: the Oracle Women’s Leadership (OWL) program. Its mission is to develop, engage, and empower current and future generations of Oracle women leaders in fostering an inclusive and innovative workforce. OWL is represented by more than 90 communities across the globe that pave the way locally to enhance leadership and professional development skills, strengthen and expand professional networks, and cultivate communities to grow and retain talent.

Celebrating across the globe

On March 8th, OWL communities across the globe are getting ready to celebrate, to think globally and act locally. Participation and recognition of Women’s Day has been growing every year within Oracle's 90+ OWL communities, and this year it plans to top its celebrations from last.

Oracle has 86 International Women’s Day events running in 49 countries across the globe. From livestreaming events with the Ministry of Women in Wellington, New Zealand to the San Francisco HQ Lunch and Learn: A Techies Guide to Public speaking, the activities and celebrations range far and wide.

You can follow Oracle on Twitter @OracleWomenLead and @ExploreOracle to see how they are celebrating International Women’s Day.  Oracle would love to hear how you are recognizing women on the day, so feel free to tweet us your photos and thoughts.

Here are some ways Oracle and you can pledge to #pressforprogress beyond March 8th:

  • Forge positive visibility of women
  • Influence the beliefs and actions of others
  • Celebrate women’s achievements
  • Challenge stereotypes and bias
  • Maintain a gender parity mind-set
