Vodafone announces Margherita Della Valle as new Group CFO

Vodafone's Margherita Della Valle stepped up to the company's group CFO role. She joins the Vodafone board, succeeding her predecessor, Nick Read, who becomes the group's’ CEO-designate when Vittorio Colao steps down.

A history of career progression with Vodafone

Joining Omnitel Pronto Italia - which later became Vodafone Italy - in 1994, Margherita has held several senior roles in the business, including group Chief Financial Controller, Chief Financial Officer for Europe, and Chief Financial Officer for Vodafone Italy.

Margherita was appointed to Deputy Group Chief Financial Officer in 2015, and will now take the most senior finance role in the Vodafone group in her new position as group CFO. Margherita has a master’s degree in economics from Bocconi University and is also a Non-Executive Director on the board of Centrica plc.

“Margherita has a strong track record in financial leadership at the highest levels, and I am delighted to welcome her to the Board,” says Gerard Kleisterlee, Vodafone Group Chairman.
