Forging a diverse and inclusive workforce

Everything they do at QBE is underpinned by their DNA. They know that it's not just what they do that matters, it’s how they do it that makes the difference. They are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workforce and a connected marketplace.
Building an inclusive culture is a business imperative. By valuing difference and respecting colleagues, it allows QBE's people to perform at their best and they know that diversity of thought, background and experience enables better decision making, improves the quality of their delivery and helps them to meet the needs of their customers.
Their vision is to give people the confidence to achieve their ambitions.
They empower their people to be their best by creating an environment where everyone's contribution and voice is valued, where they have a collective sense of purpose and a community of empowered individuals working collaboratively.
Their Employee Networks are an essential part of this and include:

A dedicated group working to breakdown gender bias and stereotypes by providing opportunities to meet, share and learn from one another.

MIX’s mission is to create an inclusive workplace environment that enables cultural awareness and respect for diverse talent to thrive, promoting individual growth and the collective advancement of QBE in the marketplace and the communities it serves.

A network promoting the message that it’s OK not to be OK. The group challenged workplace stigma surrounding mental health, making it easier for those who need help to feel comfortable asking for it.

A committed network for LGBTI employees and their allies, providing an open and supportive space for members to share information and materials about LGBTI inclusion.

A network of passionate and enthusiastic QBE employees who aim to support, celebrate and raise awareness of people who are directly or indirectly impacted by disability.
The wellbeing and safety of their people has been a top priority for them throughout the pandemic and they are proud to have been recognised as a finalist in the Working Families 2021 Awards for ‘Best Covid 19 Response’. Looking forward, they will be adopting a more flexible approach to work and introducing hybrid working as part of their Flex@QBE programme. An inclusive culture
QBE is creating a diverse and inclusive workplace that respects all employees, irrespective of their differences – visible and invisible. This is essential for attracting and developing the best people. They want a diverse workforce as they know this will generate better outcomes.
As part of their commitment to diversity and inclusion, they are proud to have signed the Women in Finance Charter, an initiative by HM Treasury and financial services firms to build a more balanced, fairer industry. In 2018, when they signed up to the Charter, they set a target to achieve more than 32% senior female representation by the end of 2020. They are proud to have met this target early across their European Operations population. They have now set a new target of 40% women in leadership by the end of 2025.
They continue to promote their enhanced UK family friendly and flexible working policies to help attract and retain female talent whilst also challenging gender stereotypes.
Their Women in Tech working groups globally continue to focus on collaboration and peer to peer networking as well as mentoring and development.
Their recruitment practices ensure they look beyond traditional talent pools to attract diverse talent. In addition, they have continued to build on their comprehensive learning resources to empower their people to own their career development and increased focus on identifying and developing their talent.
QBE has previously been named as a finalist at the Working Families Best Practice Awards.
