Future female leaders from China met for a two-day female leadership development program. Led by the British Consulate-General Shanghai and implemented by the British Chamber of Commerce Shanghai, the program was successfully carried out with the full support of GKN China.

Fifteen young rising female entrepreneurs and senior female leaders from south China toured GKN Driveline’s joint venture SDS Kangqiao plant and its Technical Centre. Senior GKN executives including Andrew Moss, President of GKN China; John McLuskie, Vice General Manager of SDS; and Hannah Liu, HR Director of GKN China hosted the group and led a workshop addressing the significance of women leadership and a culture of inclusiveness and diversity in modern business.

Stronger together for better business

“At GKN, our commitment to inclusion is unwavering. We aim to create a working environment where the abilities, differences and achievements of individuals are valued within an inclusive workplace. We believe “stronger together” makes for a better workplace and a better business,” commented Andrew Moss.

What does the VOW event stand for?

VOW can stand for Vision of Women, Value of Women, Voice of Women, Visibility of Women, Vitality of Women and many more permutations. It's a British government-run project that looks at providing a platform to link forward-thinking young Chinese female professionals with British business leaders, with a purpose to exchange experience and establish mutual support to create a strong network for sustaining and developing modern female leadership.

The network combines senior members in the British and Chinese governments and businesses, experts and academics in female leadership development, key opinion leaders, media, and - most importantly - young female professionals who are in mid to senior management positions and have a desire to further their leadership vision, skills and practice.

GKN inspires future leaders

As a global engineering business leader, GKN is assigned as a VOW Ambassador and is fully committed to showcasing and inspiring participants to further their management skills and strengthen their unique leadership styles. Other business leaders involved in this project included Mr Jack MA, Founder of Alibaba Group (Zhejiang) and Richard Branson, Founder and Chairman of Virgin Group.
