Working for industry leader Siemens Healthineers uniquely positions employees to help solve healthcare challenges worldwide and improve access to life-saving medical technology.
Meet Siemens Healthineers ultrasound specialist, Nelly Oberg, who travelled thirty-two hours across the Pacific Ocean aboard the Chilean Navy ship, Aquiles, on a mission to help bring healthcare to one of the most remote islands on Earth.
Inspired by her volunteering experience

Nelly travelled from mainland Chile with the Acrux Foundation to the Juan Fernández Islands to deliver two ultrasounds and glycated hemoglobin (ADC) equipment to a community of 1,084 people.
“Volunteering outside of the capital is always inspiring, as it helps more people have access to healthcare. On the islands, residents have only one small medical office with no specialists, no maternity care. Having diagnostics here is fundamental," explains Nelly.
Providing life-saving diagnostics
Thanks to Nelly’s volunteering and that of many of her colleagues, island residents can now access life-saving diagnostics without leaving home for days.
"This is one reason we volunteer: to bring healthcare closer, even across oceans," says Siemens Healthineers.
