Excellent Spanish opportunities for aspiring Amazonians

Amazon has announced that it will create 1,600 permanent jobs in Spain this year, taking the company's permanent in-country workforce to more than 3,200. The new job opportunities are for people with all types of experience, education and skill levels - from engineers, software developers, and artificial intelligence experts to those seeking entry-level positions.

Mariangela Marseglia, Country Manager and, said: “Spain is home to world-class innovation and fantastic talent so we are delighted to be creating over 1,600 jobs in Spain this year and continue our investments in the country. Small and medium-sized companies that sell on Amazon also contribute to generate economic growth in the country and support more 10.000 jobs across Spain.”

Many of the roles will be in the new fulfillment centers that opened in autumn 2017 in El Prat de Llobregat and Martorelles (Barcelona), and in Getafe (Madrid) as well as in the company’s new corporate offices in Madrid.

Amazon established its corporate offices in Spain in 2012 and, in 2016, selected Madrid to set a Development Center in South Europe. The more than 100 engineers working at the company’s Tech Hub in Madrid develop customer-facing features and other services for its five European websites. In October 2017, Amazon opened a new head corporate office in Madrid, in the heart of the emerging business district of Méndez Álvaro, that provides space for more of than 1,000 corporate employees.

An Italian adventure with Amazon

Additionally, Amazon plans to grow its Italian-based workforce from 3,500 today to over 5,200 during 2018. The company will create 1,700 permanent jobs in Italy during the year in a move that will take the company’s total workforce to over 5,200.&

Mariangela Marseglia, Country Manager and, said: “We’re committed to investing in Italy to continuously improve the services we offer to our customers. To keep innovating we are investing in research and development across Europe, including Italy, especially with respect to Machine Learning and Robotics. In 2018, - concludes Marseglia - we will add 1,700 new employees to our team in Italy to provide the Italian customers with fast delivery, more selection and great value.”

Amazon recently moved to the new corporate office in Milan that will host more than 600 permanent employees by the end of the year. The new facilities - 15 floors, 17,500 square meters in the heart of Porta Nuova District - provide a great setting to support continued growth. There is a wide range of corporate and AWS roles available, from vendor managers and cloud specialists to account managers helping small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to increase their sales on Amazon; as well as engineers, solution architects, tech evangelists and many others.

Technology opportunities in Ireland

If Ireland is where your heart is, then perhaps a technology role in Dublin is the perfect move. More than 1,000 permanent new jobs will be created in Ireland over the next two years. In addition to roles located in central Dublin, where Amazon opened a new 170,000 square foot building in June 2018, opportunities are also available at Amazon locations in North County Dublin, Blanchardstown, and Tallaght. Creating 1,000 new jobs doubles the growth target committed to by Amazon in 2016, when the company pledged to hire 500 people in two years - and did so nine months ahead of schedule.

Typical roles include Software Development Engineers, Network Development Engineers, Data Centre Engineers, Support Engineers, Solutions Architects, Systems Engineers, Optical Deployment Engineers, Security Specialists, Big Data Specialists, DevOps Engineers, and a range of technical management positions for both Amazon and Amazon Web Services (AWS). The exciting jobs reflect Amazon’s growing investments in the country as a centre of excellence for software engineering, research, and customer services.

A choice of UK roles for talented candidates at award wining Amazon

Amazon is actively hiring up and down the country in head office, research and development, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and operations roles. Amazon Web Services and UK Development Centres will add over 650 jobs in 2018, bringing total UK head office, development centre and AWS roles to over 6,500. The company has invested over £9.3 billion in its UK operations since 2010.

Chancellor, the Rt Hon. Philip Hammond MP, said: “Supporting businesses to create the high-quality jobs of the future is a key part of our plan to create an economy that works for everyone. Innovative companies, such as Amazon, will be at the forefront of our new economy. And I welcome the news that they are creating 2,500 permanent, new jobs across the country. It’s a clear vote of confidence in our workforce and our economy.”

The expansion of the company’s Operations network helps support tens of thousands of independent businesses of all sizes, with half of all units stocked in Amazon’s UK fulfilment centres held on behalf of sellers using Fulfilment by Amazon.

Amazon was this year named as one of the top UK companies for both attracting and retaining talent, according to LinkedIn’s 2018 Top Attractors list. The research found that Amazon ranks 7th among UK companies, based on job applications, views and connections on its career page, and retention of new employees.
