Receiving training and development

Joanne joined Entain in 2007, initially working in the machines team, before progressing through a number of roles to become retail director for the UK and Ireland. 

She believes her own career demonstrates how betting shop retail can provide long-term opportunities, as well as flexible employment for people at different stages of their lives.

“There’s been lots of training and development that has helped me along the way, and ultimately landed me in my current position,” says Joanne. “You can do as much time as you want. There are lots of different ways to develop and to grow into a job that you aspire to.”

“I’ve been with the business...nearly 20 years now, and I can say I never imagined that one day I’d be leading the retail estate. It’s been an absolute privilege and I love every single day," adds Joanne.

Enjoying working with her colleagues 

For Joanne, colleagues are the best part of the job. 

“What’s kept me in the business for 20 years have been the people. It’s a business where we treat people like real people, and I absolutely love being able to wake up everyday and just not knowing what the day brings ahead. Always walking in a shop and seeing the smiling faces of colleagues makes my day every day," explains Joanne.
