Caterpillar India employee Jyotsna Balasubramanian returned to her former company after taking career break to start a family.

“As soon as I decided to return to work, I immediately thought of Caterpillar," said Jyotsna.

Supporting employee's career decisions

Jyotsna had a successful career with Caterpillar India. She described her job as both challenging and rewarding with daily opportunities to learn new things and explore new avenues.

A couple of years in her career Jyotsna became a mother. It was then that she decided to take a break from employment to focus on raising her family.

“I spoke to my managers at Caterpillar who were very understanding and supportive of my decision. They also suggested that I consider Caterpillar first, whenever I wanted to resume employment.”

An easy return

When her children were able to take care of themselves, Jyotsna decided to return to work. For her, it was an easy decision to reapply to her former position at Caterpillar India. Although nervous about starting again, Jyotsna was thankful that her managers and mentors had helped her learn how to balance life and work both personally and professionally.

“I am satisfied that I am able to progress equally at my career path and personal life. There are a lot of trainings/resource group sessions at Caterpillar that help women overcome any predicament and guide them in the right way.”

“It is now four years since I have re-joined Caterpillar and I am happy that I made the right choice.”
