Jacqueline Tran is an Electrical Engineer at Northrop Grumman who started her career as an intern for the company. She shares her journey as an engineer at Northrop Grumman and how the company supports her professional development.
From intern to engineer
Jacqueline studied electrical engineering and technology management at University of California, Davis. During her studies, she had the exciting opportunity to do an internship at Northrop Grumman. Although she was a student, she got involved in actual engineering work with Northrop Grumman employees with years of expertise. From her internship came a full-time job at Northrop Grumman straight out of university.
Support in professional development
Jacqueline explains that at Northrop Grumman employees are more than just their job titles. She works in component hardware issues but Northrop Grumman also supports her wider professional development. For example some years ago, Jacqueline was involved in organizing the 2017 Global Innovation Summit during which she mentored 21 Northrop Grumman interns - passing on the torch to the next generation of Northrop Grumman employees.
Creating a cool dynamic
“Working for a leading defense company, I get to work on advanced technologies to help protect the nation. It’s gratifying to know that my work helps ensure our security," says Jacqueline.
“I see a shift in our culture. There are a lot of new hires at Northrop Grumman. When they collaborate with senior engineers, there’s a cool dynamic between how they all think. It introduces new ways to solve issues on all of our engineering projects. ”
