Tan Siok Peng is Exyte's Senior VP of Finance for Asia-Pacific

The diversity and inclusiveness of Exyte's work culture are of prime importance to the company. Exyte describes these areas as a checkpoint for the company, a and suggest they provide a nudge to monitor effectiveness . They constantly focus on what inclusiveness means for them as a company - and what it means for each and every individual working at Exyte.

Exyte Senior Vice President of Finance for the Asia-Pacific region, Tan Siok Peng, shares her perspectives on the subject.

Embedding inclusiveness within Exyte's company ethos

Exyte's leaders reaffirm the focus on embedding inclusiveness in the way their people interact and work together. "We have a mini United Nations here - people from diverse cultures, countries working together," suggests Tan. "It is this diversity of thoughts and ideas that makes our work environment enjoyable. I encourage all my team members to openly experiment and learn from our successes as well as our failures. Irrespective of who you are and where you come from, the mantra for success stays the same: be laser focused - know when to deep dive and when to let go - and work with clear integrity."

One should focus on their job: regardless of their gender

The diversity Exyte has across its organization is core to the company's talent strategy and priorities. The women employees in particular have proven their mettle across roles, in an industry (construction and engineering) often considered to be more conducive for men. They are known to bring distinct strengths to their teams including business acumen; their ability to build and sustain key relationships; as well as their focus and belief in teams.

"I have never allowed myself to get constrained by the fact that women across organizations are in a minority at leadership levels. Instead, I strongly believe that regardless of man or woman, one should focus on what the role and job entails," Tan comments

"It is important to self-reflect about what needs to be done to get the job done right. There is a reason why males and females are different. Embrace your femininity and leverage your intrinsic strengths. Be proud of the value you add at work - for your teams and at home - for your family. Be true to yourself, and quit worrying about the glass ceiling that may or may not exist. Always be good at what you do and take it upon yourself to encourage people around you. I have been fortunate to reach where I am today, and would like to mentor others."

Diversity of ideas and skills benefit business

Sponsoring and supporting employees at Exyte is a key value that the company's Leaders share.

Exyte believes that diversity of ideas and skills leads to clear business benefits and success. The company focuses on providing equal opportunities to its people, and enabling them to realize their potential. They utilise events such as International Women’s Day to pledge its commitment to a more diverse and inclusive workplace for all.
