AECOM's Blaga Delic receives Young Professional award

Female thought leader Blaga Delic, AECOM's Water Engineer I, has received a Nevada Water Environment Association Young Professional of the Year (North) award.

Blaga is recognized for her outstanding service to the water and wastewater community, impactful years of volunteer work and her academic applied research.

Notable project participation 

Blaga has worked on several notable projects such as OneWater Nevada's Advanced Purified Water Program Bureau of Reclamation Feasibility Study Report and OneWater Nevada's Advanced Purified Water Program pilot testing.

She also worked on a Reno-area wastewater-based epidemiology analysis for SARS-CoV-2, and a regional wastewater source control program.

Blaga's purposeful career

Before joining AECOM, Blaga worked as a Graduate Research Assistant with University of Nevada from 2019 to 2021. In the Onewater Nevada Advanced Purified Water Demonstration Study, Blaga collected pathogen samples and reported data at three regional water resource recovery facilities over eighteen months. She performed field collection and laboratory analytical procedures and participated in independent expert advisory panel discussions.

As Graduate Research Assistant, Blaga worked with the SARS CoV-2 Presence in Regional Wastewater-Based-Epidemiology Study. She developed and co-managed the wastewater collection system sampling program for SARS CoV-2 detection and prevalence within the community.

Blaga also collaborated with agency staff to determine sampling site locations utilizing geospatial analysis using GIS and conducted standardized and specialized field and laboratory analysis.
