Forging a career at a company with a strong sustainability focus can be very fulfilling.

Looking to work in a meaningful and impactful way? Then certainly consider exploring Siemens Healthineers

Working for a leading MedTech company means employees are uniquely positioned to solve healthcare challenges using technologies and innovative solutions. These challenges include advancing a world where breakthroughs in healthcare create new possibilities with a minimal impact on the planet.

"Our purpose is about providing healthcare to as many people as possible. At the same time, we are looking at both the health impact of climate change, and the health sector impact on climate and resources. For us as a company, and for me personally, it is very important that we view business and sustainability as one integrated set of goals," explains Siemens Healthineers Chief Executive Officer, Bernd Montag.

At Siemens Healthineers, employees help drive the company's sustainability strategy. This pioneering strategy is built on three pillars:

  • improving healthcare access for all
  • limiting the company's environmental impact as it pioneers breakthroughs
  • engaging its diverse Healthineers to achieve this impact on a global scale

"With our sustainability strategy, we’re taking a big step forward in leading impact for our people and the planet, creating tangible business value and bringing our purpose to life," says Siemens Healthineers Head of the Sustainability Office, Shikha Pillai.

Reflecting on sound progress and goals

Celebrating achievements and reflecting on challenges, Siemens Healthineers released its third Sustainability Report, which describes how the company is living up to its purpose. The report highlights its key sustainability challenges and opportunities and the many ways in which Siemens Healthineers is responding to them.

Siemens Healthineers understands the pivotal role it plays in sustainably shaping the future of healthcare. With this report, Siemens Healthineers not only looks back at its progress and key achievements, but also looks forward. For its journey ahead, Siemens Healthineers has raised the bar on its sustainability ambition and emphasized its commitment by embedding sustainability into everything it does.

To track performance, Siemens Healthineers has defined key performance indicators across the three pillars of its sustainability commitment: Healthcare Access, Resource Preservation and Diverse and Engaged Healthineers. The results show that Siemens Healthineers is on track to achieve its targets – especially to increase patient touchpoints in underserved countries, to reduce emissions in its operations, and to sustain its top-quartile employee engagement.

Excelling in employee engagement

According to the report, Siemens Healthineers is excelling in employee engagement, with a score in the top 10% of the healthcare sector. In 2023, 77% of employees participated in its Healthineers Forum, which creates a space for employees to share feedback and engage in collaborative, confidential, and anonymous dialogues with their managers. This helps Siemens Healthineers to quickly respond to changes in its fast-paced environment and win together as a team.

The report also outlines how Siemens Healthineers supports employee wellbeing. In 2022, Siemens Healthineers provided every employee with access to Headspace, a platform that provides science-backed meditation and mindfulness tools. Siemens Healthineers also hosted its first Global Health Days, which offered a wide range of opportunities for learning and engagement that focused on empowering everyone to take care of themselves and others.

Siemens Healthineers employees have a strong passion for a shared purpose in life, and the desire to personally engage in climate action as well as on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Siemens Healthineers Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) around the world already promote sustainability, and the company wants to build up on these efforts.

One of these ERGs, the Grass Roots Eco-Friendly Employee Network (GREEN), is highlighted in the report.
