Interested in listening to expert discussion about the future of work?
Looking to stay ahead of what's next?
Tune into Colt Technology Services's podcast Tech & Soul with colleague Ramona Botha.
As Colt Vice President of Employee Experience & Enablement, Ramona shares how to transition back to the office with intention, and how technology can empower both in-person collaboration and a world beyond the workplace.
"The future of work is full of possibilities, and it starts with purposeful connection. Remote work gave us flexibility, but as we return to shared spaces, we have the chance to reconnect in more meaningful ways," says Colt, introducing the podcast episode.
Moving towards physical work
The podcast follows the news that Zoom, a company synonymous with remote work, is encouraging a return to the physical office. Colt asks: Is the tech we rely upon preventing us from reconnecting?
"‘Connecting with purpose’ is central to how we should be reunited with the physical world of work, and we learn how to most seamlessly transition into the office from VP of Employee Experience & Enablement, Ramona Botha. Join us to examine what’s shaping the move towards physical work, how technology supports this return, and simultaneously enables a world beyond the office as we know it," shares Colt.
Understanding the value of connection

In this episode, Ramona explores the evolving nature of workplace technology and hybrid work models, balancing remote and in-office collaboration. Ramona also discusses human connection and purposeful interaction in a digital-first work environment, as well as technology's role in facilitating workplace connections. She also delves into the future of workplace design, with virtual reality meetings, and technology that supports employee well-being.
"Even though people really value the flexibility, it's also very clear from feedback that people really value connection. When I think about 'connecting with purpose', and that's a phrase we use as part of our flexible working approach, it's really about connecting with other humans. It's not about going in and sitting on your laptop. It's about thinking about those friendships thinking about the problem solving things, thinking about the collaboration about those deeper conversations. How do you get to know people on a more human level?" asks Ramona.
"We spend a lot of time, money and energy putting on events in the offices, whether or not that's our charity events, our learning events, or our networking events. For me, 'connecting with purpose' is about deeper connection. How do you take advantage, and how do you make space and create the opportunity to interact with those activities going on in the office? How do you grab a coffee? How do you grab lunch with a colleague? How do you just have a bit of fun? How do you laugh about the craziness of the world that we're in right now?" she adds.
