Vodafone helps HR graduate, Heather, succeed in her career

Heather is a second year HR graduate working for Vodafone Group. From supporting their Enterprise business to helping to drive their Fair Pay principles across markets, to working out how Vodafone can leverage automation for their function, she has had an incredible journey at Vodafone over the last 18 months.

The opportunity to explore your passions

Vodafone offers the opportunity to shape your own journey. From the offset, Heather hasn't just been asked to go away and deliver, she's been encouraged and given the chance to learn more about what she's most passionate about. "I'm fascinated by how technology will impact our workplace and, despite not having any skills in this area, I’ve been pushed and encouraged by my team to run with this," comments Heather. "Now I’m right at the forefront of HR Operations’ push to automate, including looking at how we will introduce chatbots into HR Services."

In a company as big and complex as Vodafone you soon learn that a strong network will be invaluable to your success," says Heather. I've learned so much from so many people by just taking the time to get a coffee and listen to their experiences. In addition, having had three placements across HR in 18 months, I’ve also gained invaluable friends, mentors, coaches and trusted colleagues who have helped me to thrive."

Opportunities to stretch and grow

If you prove yourself, a graduate at Vodafone can have some amazing experiences, from presenting to senior leaders to driving and owning projects that make an impact, to running an induction for new incoming graduates. It really is limitless.

"I’m currently creating a toolkit for Automation in HR that will help guide the business through the journey, right from process re-engineering to BAU!" states Heather. "I’ve got to work with some great people in HR, HR Operations and Technology and I’m really excited to see the toolkit in action once it is finished."

Heather has also been given the chance to work on the first ever UK Gender Pay Gap analysis and has presented initial findings to Vodafone's Global HR Director. "This was a hugely stretching experience and one that I’m really proud to have been a part of."

Heather is now off-boarding into a permanent role where she'll be returning to the Global Reward team. Here, she'll be responsible for helping to implement Vodafone's new Reward System and managing the global Annual Reward Review process, Gender & Fair Pay as well as looking at the end to end Reward experience for employees. "I can’t wait!" comments Heather.
