F5 headquarters named runner up in Building of the Year awards

 April 29, 2019

F5's headquarters, F5 Tower, was named runner up of the Daily Journal of Commerce's Building of the Year. F5 Tower gained 15 per cent of the total votes and was described by voters as an "architectural icon" with "grace and glamour".

Incorporating Seattle's past and future

F5 Tower is Seattle’s tallest skyscraper at 48 stories high and covers 516,000 square feet. It is also a luxury hotel, retail and restaurant space.

It incorporates the famous former First United Methodist Church into its design. Voters commented on how this preservation of a historic landmark was "inspiring" and "admirable" and "an ode to the past while looking to the future".

“Our client envisioned a project that could reset expectations of high-rises in Seattle. Alongside our project partners, we helped give a new face to a city on the move," commented Allyn Stellmacher, ZGF Architects partner.

“F5 Tower represents the next level of Class A office space in Seattle. Its innovation is rooted in the connection to the historic sanctuary building, formerly the First United Methodist Church. The church was started by pioneering families who have left their mark on Seattle. I couldn't be more pleased that a Seattle-based world leader in technology has agreed to lease the full tower. It certainly is full circle for the historic site, now the home of F5 Tower," says Kevin Daniels, the tower's developer.

A constantly expanding company

When F5 first moved into the building, it was with the view to create a workplace environment that would align with the company's dynamic culture and values. It also reflected the company's rapid growth and expansion and aims to recruit innovative people.

“Our move to F5 Tower will provide current and future F5 employees with an iconic, modern corporate headquarters that aligns with our growth as a company and showcases our significant place in Seattle's technology industry. The new space will provide a dynamic work environment that will help attract top talent, while giving us room for continued growth," says F5 CFO Andy Reinland.
