Medtronic Director Lisa Palin discusses disability inclusion

 October 19, 2021

Medtronic Director Lisa Palin has benefitted from the company's disability-focused Employee Resource Group (ERG).

Being part of this community has enabled Lisa to connect with people like her.

“Not all disabilities are visible…I am so grateful to work for a company where ERGs are provided, supported, and encouraged," says Medtronic Director Lisa Palin.

Medtronic's commitment to inclusion meant it was chosen as a Top 50 Employer for People with Disabilities by the Careers & the disABLED magazine.

Advance inclusion, diversity, and equity efforts

ERGs represent both local hubs of Medtronic Networks and additional shared-identity groups at Medtronic.

With more than 26,000 members across 70 countries, these grassroots, employee-led groups help recruit diverse talent and foster belonging within their particular community.

Each group works with allies and partners to advance inclusion, diversity, and equity efforts.

A sampling of ERGs that are empowering change across the company include:

  • ABLED (Awareness Benefiting Leadership & Employees About Disabilities)
  • American Indian Employee Resource Group
  • Christian Employee Resource Group
  • Medtronic Jewish Community
  • Medtronic Young Professionals
  • Muslims and Friends
  • Veterans Employee Resource Group

Work for a company that values all its employees

A culture of belonging encourages speaking up with a different perspective or new creative ideas. Medtronic's culture of belonging reminds employees to stop worrying about fitting in and to embrace standing out.

Medtronic understands that only when employees feel free to be themselves can the company harness the true power of its diversity and direct it to what matters most: living up to its true potential and to the advancement of its Mission.
