Eaton women honored on CRN Women of the Channel list

Eaton women Fran Harrington and Sommer Goodknecht have been recognized on CRN’s Women of the Channel list. The list spotlights female executives whose diverse backgrounds, experience, insight and influence help create channel success.

The two Eaton women who have achieved such a prestigious recognition are as follows:

Fran Harrington, Midmarket Manager for Eaton Northeast team

Fran is a Midmarket Manager for Eaton's Northeast team. She collaborates with partners to create revenue strategies that sell Eaton's power management solutions, such as hardware, software and services. Before her career at Eaton, Fran worked in marketing, communications consulting and education. 

Fran discusses Eaton's new partner program and how that has improved Eaton's channel business. 

"Our revamped partner program is the output of great collaboration between our sales and marketing team," she explains.

"Our primary area of focus for this new program in the development of our new channel tiers, which represent those who invest in selling with Eaton at higher levels. The program also gives us the opportunity to reward those partners who've invested in their relationship with Eaton." 

"Additionally, to help our partners become more adept at selling power management solutions as part of a robust enablement strategy, we're also continuing to expand our training and certification offerings around our Intelligent Power Management software," she adds.

"The midmarket sales team who support our partners and their customers is comprised of some of the hardest working, most sincere and competent group of people I've had the pleasure to know." 

Fran has some fantastic goals for Eaton's company channel business. She wants Eaton to better serve its partners as they find new methods to give better solutions for customers and create revenue through their work with Eaton. 

"While our refreshed partner program will certainly contribute to this, we're also continuing to expand our Alliance offerings to give partners more opportunities to sell power management as part of a complete IT solution, no matter the end customer's IT environment," she says.

Finally, a woman Fran most admires is Joan Benoit Samuelson, a gold medalist in the 1984 Summer Olympics.

"I met Joan in the early 1990s during a road race in Maine, and she actually asked me to run with her that week and subsequent times when I visited Maine," explains Fran.

"Joan clearly slowed her face to match mine, and her humility profoundly altered my view of competition. A champion is confident in her own skin and competes on all cylinders, when the game in on."

Sommer is a Manager of Channel Marketing at Eaton. She facilitates cross-funcitional team collaboration, achieves team goals and builds and maintains customer and channel partner relationships. 

After joining Eaton, she spent the first eight years of her career in customer support and global program management roles for the supply chain management industry. She then went on to manage a customer support team at Eaton before securing a career in channel marketing.

Sommer has an exciting career helping to drive Eaton's channel business by reviewing partner feedback from the Eaton Annual Report Card.

"We heard loud and clear what partners were telling us and intentionally applied this feedback, resulting in Eaton being recognized as the Annual Report Card champion in the Power Protection and Management product category," explains Sommer.

"We were proud to receive this honor, as it reflected our continued loyalty and commitment to channel over the years."

Sommer shares Eaton's goals in channel business - to reward partners who have invested in their relationship with Eaton through the company's PowerAdvantage partner program. 

"Our new channel program tiers will recognize those who invest their time in Eaton certifications and provide them with additional benefits and incentives," says Sommer.

"We've specifically designed new channel tiers to help partners as they seek new ways to deliver better solutions for customers and generate recurring revenue for their business with Eaton."

Sommer has two young children, and her role model is Michelle Obama: "She is smart, funny, articulate and isn't afraid to speak her mind. She also has a great fashion sense. These are all characteristics that I strive to embody."

And her fun fact? "I'd rather be reading," she says.
