Prime employer for women Schneider Electric has promised to continue its LGBT+ inclusion efforts in the workplace by participating in Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s (HRC's) Corporate Equality Index.
Schneider Electric tweeted: "We've pledged to further LGBT+ inclusion in the workplace and foster a company culture where everyone feels free to be their unique self. We are proud to join major American businesses in participating in HRC's Corporate Equality Index."
Part of a benchmarking tool of great importance
HRC's Corporate Equality Index is a benchmarking tool on corporate policies and practices pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer employees.
HRC uses the following lists of the largest and most successful U.S. employers as a basis for inviting businesses to participate in the Corporate Equality Index: Fortune magazine's 1,000 largest publicly-traded businesses (the Fortune 1000), and American Lawyer magazine's top 200 revenue grossing law firms (the AmLaw 200).
Additionally, any private sector and for-profit employer with 500 or more full-time U.S. employees that is not owned by a larger U.S.-incorporated entity can request to participate.
Schneider Electric supports the LGBT+ community in the workplace
Participating in the Corporate Equality Index is a natural step for Schneider Electric, as diversity and inclusion are key values at the organization. The company also has its own LGBT+ and Allies network.
Ashley Schneck is an Inside Strategic Account Manager at Schneider Electric. She says: "Having Schneider Electric make such a commitment to diversity and inclusion has really made me feel valued as an employee who is a part of the LGBTI community. One of the many reasons I love working here is that I feel completely comfortable to be myself at work."
