Meet Nisrine Zeggaf. She's a Power Solutions Account Manager at Schneider Electric. She started her career in Spain as a graduate in the Energy Application Centre and continued on to secure an impressive leadership role in the UK.
Nisrine shares her experience at Schneider Electric, and how the company has supported her as am engineer.
What is it like to work in Schneider Electric?
Working for Schneider Electric has been a fantastic journey. As an Account Manager I am pleased to work for a company that shares my values and promotes gender equality.
When and why did you decide to become an engineer?
I have always loved maths/physics and the analytical approach. Solving problems and finding practical solutions have been my main inspirations. By doing that and applying it also to our professional life we start thinking out of the box, be more innovative and also we can adapt to different situations no matter how complex they might seem.
Why Schneider Electric?
Schneider Electric has allowed me to start my early career as a graduate whilst I was doing my thesis in the university. This has allowed me to discover the professional world and be able to grow personally and professionally. Also, because Schneider Electric has always provided a great support for developing careers for women in an equal way.
How has Schneider Electric supported your career?
By being a multi-national company, it has allowed me to start my career in Schneider Electric Spain and when I wanted to discover a different market I have moved to Schneider Electric UK where I am based now. This is a huge advantage and has been such an added value to my career and my personal growth.
How has flexibility supported your career choices and options?
By providing the flexibility to explore new areas and providing the right training.
What has been your most rewarding experience as an engineer?
Every time I go through the creative/collaborative experience of working as a team on challenges and seeing the end result of solving the problem to our clients.
What has been challenging as an engineer?
The challenge was to be able to demonstrate every time all my capabilities as a female engineer despite some prejudices in a male dominant environment.
What's your advice for women interested in engineering?
Don't accept a NO for an answer. If you feel you want to do it, go for it!
