Working across disciplines
Engineering consultancy: WSP's engineering placement students work across a variety of WSP teams and disciplines. They work directly with clients to plan and design projects, alongside contractors who carry out the construction. This means consistent communication with the client, contract management, and consideration of the use of materials, environmental impacts, costs, and ease of maintenance.
Environmental consultancy: WSP's environmental placement students work alongside environmental consultants in many different roles in a variety of teams across its environmental discipline. They are involved in the planning stages of developments and carry out environmental assessments, from noise and vibration assessment to environmental management.
Who can apply?
WSP internships are open to students studying at University in an Engineering discipline or related subject who:
- are passionate with the curiosity and creativity to identify and solve problems
- want to stretch and inspire us, speaking up about any new ideas they may have
- want to throw themselves in from day one and put their studies into practice
- know it is important to keep everyone in the loop and demonstrate this through excellent communication skills
- enjoy working in a team environment, sharing ideas and collaborating with colleagues
- have confidence to work under pressure with the ability to prioritise and plan effectively
