For the third year running, Diageo Australia has been cited a Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) Employer of Choice for Gender Equality (EOCGE). WGEA promotes and improves gender equality in Australian workplaces.
The EOCGE citation is a voluntary leading-practice recognition program designed to encourage, recognise and promote organisations' active commitment to achieving gender equality in Australian workplaces.
"An inclusive and diverse culture makes for a better business and a better world. We start with our people, ensuring that they can thrive, by shaping market-leading policies and practices," tweeted Diageo Australia in response to the news.
Changing expectations around gender

Diageo Australia's elimination of the pay gap, as well as creating a gender equal executive and senior leadership team, was thanks to sustained, committed work to change the expectations around gender.
Diageo's ambitious maternity and paternity leave policy also plays a part in creating a more equal workplace. The policy offers a global minimum of 26 weeks fully paid maternity leave and sets global minimum standard for fully paid paternity leave.
“It has been a priority for everyone at Diageo, not just women, and we believe it benefits everyone,” says Geraldine Joanes, Human Resources Director at Diageo ANZ [pictured above]. “Culture isn’t what you’re writing on a deck but what people are experiencing around them and the types of leaders they have. It hasn't been easy to eliminate because change doesn't happen quickly."
“You have to be brave and help others to find meaning in the changes to be able to create that momentum."
Work for a company officially recognized for its effort and support
Diageo's commitment is to attract and retain the most diverse talent while creating the most inclusive culture, as shown by its recognition from WGEA. They set and deliver against ambitious goals on gender and ethnic diversity.
As a champion of inclusion and diversity, we will shape market-leading policies and practices, improving representation at every level, everywhere.
