Medtronic is among 30 finalists for Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award recognized by Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).
The award is the highest honor a company can receive from the U.S. government for supporting its military veteran employees. The criteria for selection included nomination by a National Guard or Reserve Component employee employed at Medtronic.
“I am honored to congratulate these 30 outstanding employers, who have distinguished themselves in support of their Reserve Component employees,” says Ron Bogle, ESGR’s National Chair. “Employers play a critical role in the readiness and success of our National Guard and Reserve forces, and by valuing and supporting their employees’ military service, they are making a direct contribution to our Nation’s security.”
Celebrated for veteran employee focus
Senior Director Cori Maegley transitioned from military service to a civilian career with the support of the company and Mission-led focus.
Cori wants to help other veterans find the same sense of passion and purpose in the next chapter of their careers at Medtronic.
"I worried that in transitioning out of a military career, I would feel a loss of the strong sense of purpose that the military provides," she explains.
"But at Medtronic, our collective focus on Medtronic Mission is front and center in the work we do everyday."
Further recognition for an inclusive employer
Medtronic has previously been recognized as a Beyond the Yellow Ribbon employer by the US State of Minnesota. The designation celebrated the company’s commitment to recruiting, training, hiring and supporting military veterans at Medtronic.
