QBE European Operations Running Club supports charity

 August 19, 2021

Employees at QBE European Operations embody the community spirit.

They take their responsibility to the community seriously and participate in a range of initiatives that encourage individuals and organisations to achieve their goals.

Supporting this agenda, QBE European Operations Running Club is participating in the Chase the Sun event at Queen Elizabeth Park in London, UK to raise money for Alzheimer's Society.

Celebrating Susan's life

The run is dedicated to fellow club member and QBE colleague Employee Relations Specialist, Susan Mison, who they sadly lost in 2020. Alzheimer's Society was a cause close to Susan’s heart, while running was an activity she loved.

"Susan became involved in the QBE Running Club several years ago through the Desk to 5K initiative and since then she not only continued to run, but became an active advocate and supporter of the running club. She attended many events, supported by her husband Kevin who similarly became a well-known face to the club," writes QBE European Operations Running Club on the fundraising site.

"Susan embodied the spirit of the club, to bring people together, to exercise and always do it with a smile. She is greatly missed."

Further support for Alzheimer's Society

QBE European Operations employees have previously supported Alzheimer's Society. In 2018 and 2019, Alzheimer's Society was their charity of choice, winning the employee vote with an impressive 45% of votes cast.

During that time, they raised GBP 200,000 through a mixture of fundraising initiatives and matched giving.

These fundraising and volunteering efforts supported the charity's campaign to increase public awareness and understanding of dementia, ending the stigma associated with the condition today.
