Diageo champions diversity through #MyNameIs campaign

 October 24, 2021

Diageo Global and employee-led #MyNameIs campaign is central to how the company champions inclusion, highlighting correct and respectful pronunciation of names.

Diageo understands that there is nothing more personal than your name, particularly your first, given name. Whether it’s is given by a parent at birth or adopted along the way of one’s life, the name that identifies us has become us.

Our name represents us and is how we are known to our friends, our family, co-workers, or even to the barista at Starbucks. Our name signifies and represents our presence in the global community.

Sharing pronunciations of employee names

With this in mind, Diageo asked colleagues around the globe to share the pronunciation of their name, whether simple or complicated. Via the medium of video, Diageo hopes that viewers will get to know a little more about its employees and be inspired to join this movement.

"To share with someone how to pronounce your name is an incredibly inclusive gesture. It shares a central part of who you are. It opens you up and invites them in to share. To ask someone how to pronounce their name, accomplishes the very same moment of inclusion," shares Diageo in its announcement of the campaign.
