EIB Secretary General Marjut Falkstedt presents what the EIB is doing for gender equality, explains the EIB's Gender Strategy, and introduces three women entrepreneurs supported by the EIB Institute.

Addressing the challenge of women's empowerment

"The EIB strategy and action plan for gender equality and women's economic empowerment focuses on three areas: Protect, Impact, and Invest. You will see the case of three women entrepreneurs in the second part of this discussion," says Marjut.

"They are examples of concrete initiatives that the EIB rewards through its Institute may be considered small but when it comes to addressing the challenge of empowering women no step is too small."

Gender equality is a founding value

Gender equality is one of the founding values of the European Union, and a key objective of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The EIB Group is pushing the economic empowerment of women through a range of projects, initiatives and partnerships. It carefully designs its projects so everyone benefits. As the EU bank, it promotes gender equality in everything it does.
