AECOM Director of Project Management, Rebecca West, is past President of Water Environment Federation (WEF) and WEF Fellow, and has received the WEF Water Mentorship Award.

Rebecca has dedicated her time to helping other water professionals navigate and grow their careers and her continuous support of others is recognized with the WEF Mentorship Award.

Commitment to delivering a better world

The WEF is a not-for-profit technical and educational organization, and as a global water sector leader, its mission is to connect water professionals, enrich the expertise of water professionals, increase the awareness of the impact and value of water, and provide a platform for water sector innovation.

WEF and its global network of members and Member Associations provide water quality professionals around the world with the latest in water quality education, training, and business opportunities. It uses the collective knowledge of its diverse membership to further a shared goal of improving water quality around the world.

Outstanding contributions to sustainability of water resources

WEF proudly announced the 2022 WEF Awards recipients for individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the sustainability of water resources and made a profound impact on the future of the water profession.

Rebecca is celebrated as a recipient for the Individual Service and Contribution Awards and receives the WEF Water Mentorship Award.

The purpose of the award is to acknowledge those WEF members who have a significant impact on the professional and personal development of one or more water quality professionals, including providing personal, social, and intellectual support.

Helping young professionals navigate their careers

Rebecca has over three decades of industry experience. She works with the Water Environment Association of South Carolina and has served as an Executive Leader for several agencies within South Carolina, including Greenville Water and Spartanburg Water.

The young professionals Rebecca mentored have now gone on to top leadership roles for agencies across the United States. The people she supported and helped all praised her willingness to dedicate time and energy to helping them navigate their careers.

Rebecca always took time to discuss with them major career challenges and turning points. She would ask challenging questions, focus on the positives, and help them think through their decisions without making the choice for them.
