Hispanic Heritage Month runs from September 15 to October 15 each year. 

It’s a celebration of the art, history, dance, dress, theater, food and language that make up Hispanic culture. 

Powering change to new and exciting possibilities

Honoring the contributions of Hispanics, Crain’s New York Business spotlighted 78 Hispanic leaders for their professional accomplishments and their records of powering change.

The Craine's list of Notable Hispanic Leaders come from a colorful range of industries—from medicine to law, from financial services to public relations—in a variety of leadership capacities.

Increasing diversity in the professional services industries 

AECOM's Doreen Tavares is named to Craine's prestigious list of Notable Hispanic Leaders.

As Director of Diversity Programs at AECOM, Doreen Tavares has worked closely with the Minority, Women, Disadvantaged Business Enterprise community to increase diversity in the professional services industries. 

Doreen led an internal audit for the New York metropolitan region to assess annual spending, which helped strategize local outreach.

The AECOM associate vice president has spoken at various industry events, coordinating one in which service-disabled, veteran-owned business firms partner with public agencies.

Effecting change and advancing equality in the workplace

To make the grade, nominees were required to live in New York city or the surrounding region, identify as ethnically Hispanic, have at least a decade of professional experience and hold a senior leadership role.

Candidates were judged by their accomplishments in their fields, their ability to effect change, and their efforts to advance equality in the workplace and elsewhere. 

The 78 Hispanic leaders are celebrated for their professional accomplishments and records of powering change. They come from a colorful range of industries—from medicine to law, from financial services to public relations—in a variety of leadership capacities.
