Diageo CEO Ivan Menezes is awarded a knighthood

Congratulations to Diageo Chief Executive, Ivan Menezes, who is awarded one of the most prestigious accolades in the UK: a Knighthood for services to business and equality in His Majesty The King’s 2023 New Year Honours List.

The New Year Honours List for celebrates the achievements and service of extraordinary people across the UK.

Championing underrepresented groups in business 

Ivan is celebrated for transforming Diageo into "the world’s leading premium drinks company" and for championing both women and the black and minority ethnic (BAME) community in British business.

Ivan was chairman of Movement to Work from 2017 to 2020, which tackles youth unemployment, and involved with the British-Asian Trust’s Founders Circle. Furthermore, during the pandemic, he produced more than 10 million bottles of hand sanitiser for healthcare workers around the world. 

“I am incredibly honoured to receive this award on behalf of my 28,000 colleagues in Diageo. Their creativity, passion and drive has enabled Diageo, a British company, to become a truly global leader, making a positive contribution to the communities we serve," said the CEO. "Everyone at Diageo is committed to shaping a more sustainable and inclusive business and society, and I am very proud to accept this honour in recognition of what has been achieved so far.”

Before becoming CEO of the company known for brands such as Guinness, Johnnie Walker and Tanqueray, Ivan Menezes served as Diageo’s Chief Operating Officer North America president, Asia Pacific chairman, and Latin America and Caribbean chairman. Ivan Menezes became an executive director at Diageo in July 2012.
