WTW internships are designed to provide maximum insight into WTW's business and the best possible preparation for a future career.

WTW interns apply what they've learned at university to real-life intellectual challenges. They gain immediate exposure to client assignments doing work that takes them out of their comfort zone, offering something new and unexpected every day.

WTW Business Support/Communications Assistant, Destiny Onu, shares her journey as an intern with WTW, the ways in which she has developed, and why this was the best career choice for her.

Gaining exposure to the investment industry

Destiny joined WTW as a graduate and since then has worked in the investment side of WTW's business.

"Currently, I am a Communications Administrator," says Destiny. "I decided to intern at WTW to gain more exposure in the investment industry and to see if this was potentially somewhere where I wanted to grow and learn and start my career," explains Destiny.

Contributing to client projects

Many of WTW's interns go on to join the company in graduate roles. Due to this, WTW invests a lot of time and energy into ensuring its internships provide as much insight as possible into a WTW career.

WTW ensures that its interns are met with opportunities to contribute to client projects and experience first-hand what the company does, as well as helping its interns develop key skills, such as presenting and project management.

Destiny describes that at all stages of her time with WTW, she has definitely been challenged, whether it be learning how to utilize new software, engaging with various groups of people or simply learning her work style.

"All of these various things have been very crucial to my development. So I would definitely say I've been able to improve my skills, improve my character, professionally and individually," recalls Destiny.

Assisted by colleagues to learn and develop

Destiny explains that WTW's culture is what definitely makes it an outstanding company.

WTW uses its know-how, experience and global reach to tackle challenges and fuel potential. This makes for a highly engaging and innovative culture, and one where WTW's colleagues are empowered to achieve the best possible results, for each other and for clients.

"Coming here, I realized that genuinely there are companies with fantastic individuals, intelligent people who are willing to assist you in your learning and your development," says Destiny.

Destiny's advice for future WTW interns

For Destiny, a key piece of career advice that she would give to anyone looking to join WTW as an intern in the future is to not shy away from a challenge.

"In coming into an internship, the aim is not to be perfect. The aim, in my opinion, is to show your potential and show your willingness to learn," suggests Destiny.
