Diageo Master Blender Emma Walker joined forces with renowned Chef Kei Kobayashi, channeling their years of expertise, to create an incredible Blended Scotch Whisky - the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Elusive Umami.
The new limited edition whisky is inspired by one of the world’s most hard-to-define and alluring flavor profiles, in a partnership from these two masters of their craft.

Chef Kei brings a unique flair and craftmanship to his cuisine and in pursuit of decoding one of the world’s most hard to define and alluring tastes, Chef Kei and Emma have created an expression that will awaken the senses of whisky lovers and those new to the whisky world.
Only one in 25,000 casks succeeds in bringing this elusive character to life. Emma and Chef Kei handpicked whiskies like they were ingredients – from salty, smoky notes to savoury, meaty flavors.

“When Chef Kei and I set out to capture the essence of umami, we knew we were taking a step into the unknown by embarking on an exciting journey of flavor exploration. Together, we wanted to push the boundaries of what Scotch could be and bring a truly innovative offering to the world of whisky and flavor,” Emma explains.
“For Johnnie Walker Blue Label Elusive Umami, only one in 25,000 casks in our unparalleled reserves of more than 10 million maturing casks made the cut when we painstakingly searched our reserves for that elusive flavor profile – each expression of Scotch whisky was hand-picked to create an umami profile, just like ingredients for a recipe, allowing us to bring the unique character of this innovative whisky to life.”
