Supportive workplace for all
Understanding the importance of a healthy work-life balance - flexible and part time working is highly supported at Diageo Hungary. With a large number of employees requiring maternity leave and parents with family commitments working within the organisation - family friendly programmes and activities are starting to play a significant part of its corporate culture and strategy.
So how are Diageo Hungary encouraging this family-friendly environment?
Diageo believes it is the little things that really make a difference when it comes to creating a healthy work-life balance. From small gestures such as regular children’s book fairs and Easter parties for employee’s families, Diageo Hungary has also made a number of family attraction passes available - allowing free entry into the Zoo for employees and their children.
A ‘Parent Academy’ initiative has also been implemented, where various tools and methodologies for parenting and managing family life have been introduced. More than 50 parents have participated in this, and it is growing month by month.
Every little gesture makes a difference
Besides its family friendly programmes, some additional well-being services have now been made available - benefits that can really make a difference!
A laundry service, office massage, yoga classes and discounted bicycles are just a few examples. There is also a farmers’ market held on a regular basis in the courtyard, and colleagues can buy theatre tickets in the office.
A family friendly community
Two years ago Diageo Hungary launched a new initiative called 'Moms & Dads Budapest' - a platform to keep maternity leave employees updated and informed whilst outside the workplace. This community was then made available to anyone who wants to find out more information about maternity and paternity.
With such initiatives being introduced in the past few years, it is no surprise that Diageo Hungary has now been awarded with the ’Family Friendly Workplace Award’.
With each and every one of its family friendly initiatives making an impact, it just goes to show that employers do not need to move mountains to make a difference in the workplace.
