The programmes on offer depend on the country you are resident in.
UK programs
For undergraduates in the UK, GSK offers two placement opportunities: one-year industrial placements, and summer placements that typically last 10-12 weeks.
GSK placements offer you the chance to have real responsibility so you can make an impact on the business, as well as offering dedicated support and development opportunities to help you get the most from your time with the company.
GSK industrial placements
GSK industrial placements usually run for 12 months which provides plenty of time for you to gain great experience, while complementing your studies and supporting your personal and professional growth.
Industries include: Engineering; Communications and Government Affairs and Global Health; Finance; Human Resources; Regulatory Affairs; Sales and Marketing; Science; Supply Chain; Procurement; Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability; ViiV Healthcare; and Data Science.
GSK summer placements
GSK summer placements last between 8 and 12 weeks and provide an excellent opportunity to gain insights into life and work in a global healthcare company. GSK provides challenging assignments – plus all the support you’ll need to make the most of the experience - and at the end of your placement you may even be offered a position on the Graduate Future Leaders programme.
Industries include: Finance; Marketing; Research & Development; and Tech.
US programs
GSK offers intern and co-op opportunities across most divisions to undergraduates and graduates from a variety of academic backgrounds. These opportunities are available in locations across the United States.
The program offers a unique opportunity to utilize, enhance and develop skills particular to your studies in a practical and engaging environment. GSK has partnered with Atrium, a talent solutions firm, in year-round recruitment for its intern and co-op program.
Available positions can be found within science, engineering, business, IT and other disciplines.

The intern and co-op program offers learning and networking options in an enriched work environment, enhancing the student experience during their tenure.
GSK interns and co-ops are given the opportunity to develop and apply skills learned in the classroom, in a real world environment. Students are exposed to state-of-the-art facilities on the cutting edge of healthcare.
Interns and co-ops are invited to summer receptions hosted at the GSK Philadelphia Navy Yard and Research Triangle Park work locations where students can network with each other and GSK business leaders.
Interns and co-ops are able to connect with each other at GSK onsite events such as networking luncheons, site tours, and poster sessions. Student ambassadors located at work sites keep the interns and co-ops informed and engaged through internal newsletters, luncheons, and offsite events such as dinners and local events.
GSK is committed to building a healthy environment, inspiring students to perform at their best. Online webinars on topics related to strengthening workplace skills, healthy living and work/life balance are offered to interns and co-ops. A trial fitness class for interns and co-ops, hosted by an onsite Fitness Manager, is offered at certain times during the year at specific GSK locations.
