The need for Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) at the workplace has increased substantially as the positive effects it can have on the workforce are widely recognized. Organizations are moving beyond merely trying to achieve the diversity quota and shifting the focus to inclusion. However, despite the right intentions, many Diversity & Inclusion initiatives that are popping up can remain unsuccessful.

At Capgemini Invent they strongly recommend a data-driven and strategic approach and have launched a service called ‘Be Challenged’ that encompasses all Diversity & Inclusion initiatives under one umbrella.

Capgemini Invent offers a comprehensive strategy that unites all D&I initiatives under one umbrella and they do this in 5 steps:

Diversity and inclusion in the workplace are more important than ever

Diversity and inclusion (D&I) in the workplace has become more important than ever before. Organizations are starting to realize the major positive effects it can have on their business outcomes.

In order to fully understand the impact of establishing a diverse and inclusive workforce, it is important to understand what D&I entails.

Diversity is the varied perspectives and approaches that members of different identities can bring. It is about the mix of people in a team and the various backgrounds identities and experiences which make them unique.

Explicit differences that are usually observable include: gender; age; national origin; ethnicity; and disability.

Invisible differences lie beneath the surface and include aspects such as: sexual orientation; religion; education; and work experiences.

Both visible and invisible differences encompass the diversity of an individual.

Inclusion means being authentically included

Inclusion is the degree to which an employee perceives that he or she is an esteemed member of a group, through experiencing authenticity and the feeling that you're part of the team.

An inclusive culture makes people feel respected and valued for who they are as an individual.

Diversity will not function without an inclusive environment where people feel they can speak up and thrive.

To achieve such an environment, diversity and inclusion should not be considered as a by-product of other business strategies but needs to be embedded in the core business as a strategic priority.

Capgemini Invent's 'Be Challenged' provides indepth D&I data and insight

Capgemini Invent's 'Be Challenged' approach can help organizations to address D&I challenges by getting in-depth insights in the organization's D&I performance.

A data-driven approach is used to draw evidence-based conclusions on the company's D&I performance by highlighting potential areas for improvement. They provide targeted and sustainable recommendations on what organizations can do to improve.
