The role of in-house recruiting faces constant challenges, mainly led by demands from jobseekers and hiring managers. But the fabulous Human Resources Team at Schneider Electric has nailed it all, finding the delicate balance between the needs from different parties.

Their efforts have made them to the finalist lists of four categories at the In-house Recruitment Award, including:

  • Diversity & Inclusion Strategy
  • In-house Recruitment Manager - Peter Hogg
  • Recruitment Team – Technology Sector
  • Apprenticeship or School Leaver Campaign

Diversity and Inclusion in Schneider Electric

The HR team has deployed diversity and inclusion strategy in recruitment, but it doesn't stop there. At Schneider Electric, taking the global step of recognizing diversity as a business imperative and not just a Human Resources initiative has made a real difference. As part of the global “people strategy,” Schneider Electric have added Diversity and Inclusion as one of the six key transformation priorities, impacting how they operate globally and locally. Recruitment strategies also support their commitment to increase the level of representation of women across the pipeline.

"The company has also established dedicated executive-level groups to drive towards gender parity. We support the HeForShe IMPACT 10x10x10 signatures, which aim for global role models to set the tone for gender equality, among many initiatives to promote education, training and awareness around diversity and inclusion. This ensures we are a diverse and inclusive company where differences are valued and respected, and equal opportunities offered to everyone, everywhere," says Sarah Tabet, the HR Director for Schneider Electric Process Automation Middle East

"I am convinced that global corporations must become visible role models, and advocates of change within society. There is great value in contributing to the debate by sharing experiences, and learning from others. At Schneider Electric, we are not perfect, but there is an unwavering D&I commitment, and ambition for a sustainable tomorrow," shares Chief Human Resources Officer Olivier Blum.

Invaluable opportunities for interns

The human resoures team has also put in place comprehensive programs for interns for a solid start to their career. Interns are placed in a high-performance environment that cultivates learning, collaboration, and well-being.

Agnes Broden is a Sustainability Intern for Schneider Electric in Washington D.C. She will be graduating with a B.B.A in International Business and Marketing from the George Washington University. Her internship at Schneider Electric has been a series of serious responsibilities, exciting experiences, and invaluable opportunities, including meeting the environment representative of a U.S. congressman on Capitol Hill, discussing climate policy with some of the largest companies in the world, and putting together sustainability projects from scratch for a company with over 140,000 employees across the world.

"When I get home after work and call my parents from across the Atlantic Ocean, my excitement for my work takes over. Being a part of Schneider Electric has opened me up to a new reality.

"The trust and confidence my supervisor puts in me makes me eager to not only work hard, but to learn about things I didn't even know existed a few months ago. Whether I am calling local government offices trying to decode hundreds of pages of environmental regulations, writing articles on energy system innovation, or researching the details of how a microgrid works, I find myself always wanting to learn more. It may sound cliché, but in one of my absolute favorite cities in the world with endless things to experience, my nine-to-five job has become the best part of my summer," comments Agnes.
