Eaton employees in manufacturing share inspiring stories

In celebration of Manufacturing Day, Eaton spoke with employees from across their business to learn what they most enjoyed about working in manufacturing. The women working in a wide variety of roles across the business, act as inspiration for others to join the manufacturing industry. Here are some of their stories.

Eaton employees' manufacturing passion stories

Kerri Nitzschke, plant manager in Meadowlands, spoke about why she chose to pursue a career in manufacturing. She said: “I got into operations after eight years in sales & marketing. Initially I was curious to learn about operations because I was a problem-solver by nature, and I knew that you solved problems every day in manufacturing environments. I stay in operations now because of the people – their passion, the teamwork, the successes.”

Meanwhile Nicole Steins, injection molding machine clerk, Langenlonsheim Plant spoke about what she enjoys the most about manufacturing. She said: “I see what I have worked on at the end of the day. I have direct contact to the product and see the quality of work. I love the teamwork in the production zone – everyone helps everyone. I also enjoy that I can have a learning experience every day”

Lilia Graciela Gutierrez Chavez, manufacturing supervisor, Reynosa Electrical Plan spoke about her inspiration. “I’m inspired by my coworkers and enjoy helping achieve production objectives and satisfying client expectations,” she said.

Jessica Brooks, interim facilities & maintenance manager, Van Wert, OH said: “The most enjoyable part of manufacturing for me is the people. I’m always reminded how hard people work to build quality products.”

What is Manufacturing Day (MFG Day)

MFG Day was created to address common misperceptions about manufacturing by giving manufacturers an opportunity to open their doors and show what the industry is all about. By connecting with future generations it hopes that, as an industry working together, it can address the skilled labour shortage and ensure the ongoing prosperity of manufacturing

Eaton’s involvement in MFG Day

As well as sharing these manufacturing passion stories, Eton also opened its Shenadoah Iowa facility to local high school students, business representatives and community members. Visitors were able to tour the plant, which manufactures heavy duty truck transmissions.
