Wendy Chapple is an Associate Professor of Management at Nottingham Trent University's Business School. Wendy says that coming to work for Nottingham Trent University was like a breath of fresh air.
A positive company culture
Wendy says that there is a real positive energy and an infectious, collective enthusiasm at Nottingham Trent University.
"You can feel how proud people are to work at NTU. People support each other. It’s like being in an adventure playground, where work feels like fun and you’ve got all the resources, support and freedom you need to pursue your research interests, investigate new territory and check out different paths. It makes me feel valued. It makes me believe I can make a real difference to the outside world," says Wendy.
Opportunities to evolve and grow
Wendy is given both the opportunities and the encouragement to evolve and grow at Nottingham Trent University.
"I’d only been here a year and I was asked to get involved in Sustainable Futures at University level. To be given this opportunity and to present at board level to the Vice Chancellor and Pro-Vice Chancellor really stretched and challenged me. I really hadn’t been given an opportunity (or the trust that came with it) like it before," explains Wendy.
Thanks to support from Nottingham Trent University, Wendy has been able to go for funding. She also has a clear research strategy and a pathway to follow, which makes Wendy feel she can make things happen.
"I'm not surviving here, I'm flourishing," adds Wendy. "This is a ‘let’s do it’ kind of place where I get to feel like a ‘can do it’ kind of girl. And that’s great."
