Schneider Electric partnership inspires the next generation

Schneider Electric partnership inspires the next generation

 January 29, 2019

Schneider Electric has partnered with Newport Girls' High School in the 2019 Shropshire Star STEM Challenge. The STEM Challenge 2019 was established to increase student engagement in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths, to demonstrate how the work students do at school will impact their future careers, and to give the students access to the world of industry and the opportunities available. The competition also creates vital links between local schools and businesses like Schneider Electric.

Schneider Electric is an excellent partner because their technologies help create smarter more efficient and sustainable homes, buildings, factories, transport systems, data centres and utility networks - and they employ 142,000 people across the globe including more than 5,000 people here in the UK. So their focus is important and their employment opportunities are vast.

Empowering the next generation

Samantha Waters, Project Manager at Schneider Electric, is involved in the challenge and is keen to support the company's efforts in striving to empower the next generation to pursue careers in STEM.

Engineers, software developers, product developers and technicians are a significant part of Schneider Electric's workforce in the UK. "It's crucial we help to inspire the next generation of STEM talent to help us design, build and manufacture the innovative technologies of the future. As a business, we believe it is important to empower future generations to make a difference to the world," said a spokesperson. "At Schneider Electric, we see on a daily basis just how essential science, technology, engineering and maths are to solving some of the biggest challenges the world faces, from developing new, energy-saving technologies to the next generations of smart electricity networks."

Motivation to pursue careers in STEM

The STEM Schools Challenge is a fantastic opportunity for Schneider Electric to help engage and inspire school children in Shropshire and motivate them to pursue a career in STEM. Schneider Electric wants to help create the next generation of scientists, engineers, programmers, inventors and disrupters, who will solve the challenges of tomorrow. The STEM Schools Challenge is invaluable at enabling the company to work directly with the next generation and is something they are extremely proud to support.
