Amazon is first signatory of momentous Climate Pledge

Amazon and Global Optimism have announced The Climate Pledge which calls on signatories to be net zero carbon across their businesses by 2040 - a decade ahead of the Paris Agreement’s goal of 2050.

Amazon is making important promises for our planet

Amazon is the first signatory of the The Climate Pledge, making the following promises:

  • 100 per cent net zero carbon by 2040
  • deploying technology and people to reach net zero carbon across Amazon by 2040, one decade ahead of the Paris Agreement.
  • 80 per cent renewable energy by 2024
  • investing in wind and solar to reach 80 per cent renewable energy across all business operations by 2024. Amazon expects to reach ~40 per cent renewable energy by the end of 2019
  • 100 per cent renewable energy by 2030
  • investing in wind and solar to reach 100 per cent renewable energy across all business operations by 2030
  • 50 per cent shipments net zero carbon by 2030
  • a vision to make all Amazon shipments net zero carbon, with 50 per cent of all shipments net zero carbon by 2030
